I am working on a system that has a bunch of sensors communicating with a linux machine.

A good solution would be to use javascript and make ajax calls at set intervals.I'm looking for some advice / code help to get a way to only refresh the main webpage if the content is updated.(It doesn't matter if a suggested solution is in HTML, PHP or any other language) Any suggestions or constructive comments would be greatly appreciated.If your application is written in C then C would likely be more familiar than PHP or Javascript.It can also handle pushing data to a web page using either ajax pull or web sockets.
